Wow, time sure flies by when…you have two kids! I can’t believe Lia is already 6 months old. I must admit, I am really enjoying her now – quite attached to the kiddo! Phew! The sleepless and broken up sleep was really tough for me in the beginning. I had a difficult time finding any time to rest and then at night I would wake to any kind of sound. As of late, Lia has been allowing us to sleep most nights. Definitely James has been sleeping through the night and for the most part he was able to in the earlier months. Since Hawaii, Lia is pretty much either “sleeping through the night” with 6 to 10 hours of straight sleeping or just waking once during that time. I’m still waiting for her to be a little more predictable with her times. She’s not as clockwork as I’d like just yet. The only pattern we have with her is that she needs to nap almost when she first wakes up in the morning, and then after two hours of her being awake. I always try to nap her until at least 5pm so she can last until 8pm which she manages the three hour stretch.
Lia is relatively easy. It’s been about a four day stretch where we haven’t heard her cry. When she wakes up, she talks and I usually can hear her. If she feels that I’m taking too long, she will give me a little scream and then go back to talking. It’s quite cute. I have also been toting her around to meetings (with the City of Vancouver, landlords, sites) and she basically sleeps through it all. So it makes it very easy on me. I do, of course, stress during the meeting thinking she might be fussy but she proves me wrong each time! What a perfect side kick! Since as of right now, there’s no confirmed space for a July start date, Lia and I might go on a longer maternity leave. I’m having second thoughts about starting her at 10 months like we did Matthew. I’m going to miss her…
Matthew is the same ol’ little funny guy. He’s so dramatic…hmmm…I wonder who he reminds me of….heehee…His emotions are very big, there’s no in between with this one. Generally he’s a happy and loud one but he does turn on the water works pretty easily. I commend him when he’s able to hold back his emotions before the tears come but sometimes that’s a tough feat.
We helped celebrate Ms. Ly Ly’s wedding. Matthew was the ring boy. He did it! He walked down the aisle! And yes, a bribe of a bag of candy at the end of his task was his reward. Hey, everyone knows when you’re an ECE teacher, it goes out the window when rearing your own kids!!! We told him that he has to walk down, holding Kas (Ms. Kato’s one year old), a sign that Ms. Ly made (“Uncle Alvin, here comes your bride!”), with the biggest smile ever and he sure did deliver!
Spring Break is here and that means we’re off to Great Wolf Lodge (finally, I get to go! That place and Lego Land have been places I have wanted to go for ages). Then we’re back for a few days and off to Whistler.
